Mean, Median, Mode, and Range
The three most popular measures of central tendency are the mean, median, and mode. The mean is calculated by adding up all numbers and dividing them by the number of numbers in your set. The median is the measure that splits a data set into two halves. The mode is the number that appears more than any other number in a data set.
Many people believe there is a relation between the math concept of mean, median, and mode. However, in reality, there is no relation between the three, and each serves a different purpose in data analysis. The mean is a measurement that balances out all data points and provides an accurate representation of central tendency. The median, on the other hand, represents a "middle" value when sorting data points by value. Lastly, the mode is the value that is most common in the dataset.
The range is the difference between the lowest and highest values in a data set.
