RC filters are used in many electric circuits to reduce noise or interference. In a typical circuit, the input voltage is applied across a high-value resistor and a low-value capacitor, which creates an RC time constant. The capacitor charges up to the input voltage as it absorbs noise from the input signal. Once the capacitor charges, it will not change its voltage again unless disturbed by a noise event that exceeds a certain threshold.

The RC filter is an electronic circuit that is intended to have a time constant that is much larger than the period in order to reduce noise. The fundamental equation for this design is;  RC=1/(2πfc)

They are designed to offer very high frequencies, so they are ideal for signals with frequencies above 10kHZ. This means they are perfect for cleaning up the sound quality of music or voice recordings. They are also used in many applications where there is need for filtering or smoothing of a noisy signal.
