What is Unix Time?
Unix Time is the number of seconds that have elapsed since midnight UTC on January 1, 1970.
Unix time was set around the time when Unix was developed by Ken Thompson and Dennis Ritchie. The Unix Time system divides days into 24 hours, each hour into 60 minutes, and each minute into 60 seconds.
The UNIX time system is often used in UNIX-based operating systems, including Android, macOS, and Unix-like computer systems.
Decades ago, when many of today's current programmers were born or were in their formative years, they were taught to use the UNIX date format.
