Proportions can be a little bit challenging at times and learning the basics of creating and interpreting them in their simplest forms is very important. It's not enough to just learn one form, you need to become proficient in understanding and using different types to solve problems.

Mathematical proportions are used to compare two ratios. The ratio is made up of two numbers for the same type of measurement. For example, you can have a ratio of 3 to 1 or 60% to 40%. Most ratios are not so simple to work out mentally, so they are best solved using a calculator.

A ratio is simply a comparison between two numbers. A ratio can be expressed as an equation, where one number is divided by the other to produce the result. Ratios are important in many different aspects of life, including cooking, finance, and architecture. For example, if there were two people tasked with doing a job that could be done by one person, then it would take half as long for them to complete the job together.
